What's it all about?

Millions are being invested in Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality technologies by companies such as Apple and Facebook. But what does it look like in Aotearoa? Who is using this technology and what is it being used for?

Lighting Talks will take place from 2:00  - 4:30 pm in Lecture Theatre 1 (LT1) with Demos in the Atrium from 2:00 - 6:00 pm.

Light refreshments and catering will be served in Atrium following the speaker presentations. This event is FREE and open to all but please register your interest for catering and health & safety purposes.

They are one of the largest multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firms, delivering project design and management across twelve different markets in 26 countries.

Dr Ann Cronin

Principal, Organisational Learning, New Zealand Police

Dr Ann Cronin is a cognitive psychologist specialising in memory and learning with a M.Sc. in neuroscience. Her VR prototyping at the NZ Police college is innovative, experimental, and will be tested against current best practices and examines the ROI on memory, and long-term behavioral change.

Senior Lecturer, Wellington School of Architecture

Tane Moleta is an academic at the Wellington School of Architecture and a founder of DARA. His work and research specialises in Architectural Design Research, Design Andragogy, Simulation, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Human-Computer Interface, Parametric Design and Procedural Design

James Everett is the co-founder of NZXR, an XR solution company specialising in AR & VR interactive technology. He has over 20 years of game development experience working for companies such as Magic Leap & Weta Workshop, Ubisoft Toronto, and Sidhe Interactive.

Patrick is a project manager at 8i. 8i is a virtual reality software company focusing on volumetric video capture which includes interactive telepresence, live broadcast, and recorded entertainment and experiences. Their clients include the likes of LG, Walmart, Apple, Google, and Sony.
