Attending Techweek2021 - what do I need to know?

When is Techweek2021?

Techweek will be run from 22 - 30 May 2021, nationwide.

What type of events are generally run at Techweek?

Techweek hosts a wide range of events from small meet-ups, hackathons, and workshops, as well as networking events and conferences. Events focus on showcasing the amazing innovations and technology we have happening throughout New Zealand.

From agritech, artificial intelligence and biotech through to internet of things, cleantech and marketingtech, these are just some of the tech sectors we see events hosted for. We also see loads of more general events that appeal to the community and showcase our Kiwi innovation. Community events have included things like gaming and coding for kids, health and wellbeing workshops and parenting in a social media age.

Event formats include face-to-face, hybrid (a face-to-face event also hosted digitally) and digital. With uncertainty still around COVID-19, we expect to see the hybrid format utilised more widely in Techweek2021.

When will the programme be announced?

The Techweek2021 programme is now live with the first block of approved events. Following which, the programme will be updated regularly with new events so check back daily to see what’s added!

Who can attend Techweek events?

Anyone! Techweek has events to suit all ages and stages. Check out what interests you and book in to attend as many events as you wish.

How do I book events?

On the programme page, simply use our search filters to find event types that interest you. From here, you’ll have the option to ‘save event’ (to review/book at a later date), ‘add to calendar’, ‘register’ or ‘email organiser’.

Is there a charge to attend events?

Techweek offers a wide range of events, with the majority of these being free to attend. A small proportion of events are paid events and the cost for these vary depending on the event type and duration.

What else do I need to know?

We are hopeful that New Zealand’s COVID-19 situation will be stable in May and the country will be in Alert Level 1. However, we are also conscious that this a challenging and ever evolving time we are going through and need to be prepared for any eventuality.

Should the need arise, Techweek2021 will move to a 100% digital format. We have experience in successfully delivering this platform (Techweek2020) and all systems and processes are in place should we need to revert to this.

In short, Techweek will be going ahead - rain, hail or COVID Alert Level!
