What's it all about?

Eva Håkansson became the fastest woman motorcycle rider on Earth at 434 km/h in 2014, on Killajoule, an electric motorcycle she built herself in her backyard garage. Originally from Sweden, Eva relocated from the USA to Auckland in 2017 and now her goal is to focus on racing its successor Green Envy in 2021.

But if you think this girl is chasing the adrenaline kick from flying across the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats think again.

Eva is a hardcore mechanical engineer - her element is in the workshop and she feels that welding is a superhero power. Her mission is to show that eco-friendly is far from boring and that her racing is really just “eco-activism in disguise”. She uses the unusual channel of high speed racing to open people’s eyes and minds for sustainable technology. She also wants to inspire kids to study STEM and to build amazing things with their hands.

Join Eva at New Plymouth Girls High School (Yr13 Common Room) and hear about her incredible journey, what it takes to break world records and become the fastest electric motorcycle racer in the world.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session and the opportunity to network.
