What is OB3?
OB3 – Beautiful Study for Lifelong Learning is a personal learning environment that focuses on the educational or learning activities of people rather than a course. It offers more autonomy than traditional learning management systems, and is particularly well suited for independent, lifelong, and self-directed styles of learning.

Who should come and why?
Anyone who is struggling to keep their personal or informal learning resources organised: notes, videos, photos, links to videos, podcasts, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter feeds, etc.Those who would be interested in organising their personal learning resources by topics using media-rich documents and folders.Any person who is interested in curating their personal learning resources in a way that is easy to find, review, and share with groups of people.
What will you be doing?
You will learn how to create and organise media-rich documents of your informal learning content. A media-rich document could have text, embedded videos, audio-recordings, links to web pages, podcasts, etc. Very quickly you will be able to create collections of media-rich documents on diverse topics such as gardening, yoga or spiritual teachings, favourite podcast topics, curated lists of YouTube videos, movies, books etc. You could also create directories, glossaries or collections, and share them with the groups you create: family, friends, co-workers, club members, community projects, etc.
Workshop structure
An introduction to the concepts of lifelong learning, independent study, self-directed learning styles.Learn to create, organise, and share media-rich documents of your informal learning content. A brief presentation of potential uses and applications as part of activities with family, friends, co-workers, club members or community projects.
What if I cannot attend at these times?
Please register so you can attend these events asynchronously (in your own time) via the OB3 platform. You will be able to use the seminar resources and engage with the facilitators in a closed collaborative environment.

Speakers
Dr Gloria Gomez is a cross-cultural multi-ethnic female designer of colour, co-founder of OceanBrowser Ltd., and an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Sydney. Gloria undertakes applied design research in educational practice with the Bridging Design Prototype approach. This approach has promoted the novel practice of preschool concept mapping, and has informed the R&D of OB3 – Beautiful Study for Lifelong Learning (OceanBrowser, New Zealand).
Her collaborative research partnerships include a framework to support inclusive design teaching and product evaluation, exploring how professionals with severe impairment use technology for work and study, and conceptualisations on resources for algebraic reasoning in early primary education.
Gloria was born in Guatemala to Colombian parents, raised in Colombia and Ecuador. She has a degree in Graphic Design from La Universidad Potificia Bolivariana (Colombia) and a PhD in Design from Swinburne University of Technology (Australia). Between 1997-2016, she held positions at La Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia), the Florida Institute of Human and Machine Cognition (USA), the University of Otago (New Zealand), and the University of Southern Denmark (Denmark). For 20 years New Zealand has intermittently been her home, where she currently lives, works, and plays.
