What's it all about?

This event will be hosted by Beca in their Hamilton offices, and will showcase a recent project involving the 100 year old Waikato Cathedral. The cathedral underwent a full reality capture survey, which involved 3D laser scanning the inside and outside of the cathedral, using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle to capture over the roof, surrounding grounds, and also used to inspect the structural elements high up in the nave. A robotic vehicle was also used to take a 3D scanner under the floor to scan all the important foundation structures and reveal a previously documented redoubt trench excavated by the 2nd Militia in 1864.

The resulting point cloud data was transformed into a stunning 3D model for use by our engineers and designers and client.

Our exhibition will display some of the equipment used in this process, and we will have a live demonstration of the digital twin in a Virtual Reality environment, with some of our regional experts on hand to talk about this projects technology.
